The ROAM Camp Farm

ROAM Camp (formerly known as Canine Country Quarters) occupies 50 acres in the rolling hills and forests of Wayne County, Pennsylvania. It is conveniently located about 2.5 hours from New York City to give your dog the ultimate free roaming country experience. The farm offers a host of different supervised activities for them, including the ability to frolic in our fenced-in dog runs, swimming in the pond, hiking through the woods, playing in the trout stream or just lounging on the couches, beds, outdoor decks and sunning in the grass.

how ROAM CAMP Works

ROAM was created to disrupt the traditional boarding model to create a home away from home for our furriest family members and we can't wait to meet your dog! However, in order to keep all of our guests happy and safe, we do have a few basic requirements. Please make sure your dog meets all of these specifications before registering:

Health certificate with proof of Distemper, Rabies, Parvo, Bordatella & Canine Influenza* vaccinations.
ID tag with their name and contact information.
Dogs must be neutered if they are over 8 months old.
All dogs have to be at least 3 months old.

My Dog is Ready! How much does it cost?

When you choose ROAM for your pup, we require a 3-night minimum stay. Those stays are based on our free door-to-door shuttle transportation from NYC on Mondays and Thursdays. If your schedule does not align with our complimentary transportation days, we may be able to accommodate alternate day pickups and/or drop offs, which will incur an additional charge.

To book a stay, all dogs (and their parents) must be registered in our system. If you’re a long-time client or new to ROAM, you will need to register on our client portal to book any overnight stays. For additional questions, please check out our Frequently Asked Questions page.

Meet the ROAM Camp Team

Seth Cooper

FOUNDER
Seth has been the owner and proprietor of ROAM in Northeast PA since 2009. Born and raised in Indiana, with a family history of champion border collie trainers. Seth relocated to New York for university and earned a BA in finance. Following the subprime crisis, Seth left his Wall Street job to return to his country roots and has successfully run this operation ever since. With several dogs in his own pack, Seth believes that dogs are family and that when separated from their families, being confined to a crate or kennel can exacerbate an already stressful situation. He runs ROAM on the philosophy that family dogs fare much better with human contact and an active lifestyle.
Jennifer Swendsen

DIRECTOR OF ADMINISTRATION

Jenn is a lover of all souls. In addition to her 10 years as part of the ROAM family, she has also been a volunteer at a local dog rescue facility for many years. Caring for humans is Jenn’s specialty as well. She has over a decade of experience as a CNA, at-home and skilled nursing facility care for the elderly. To add to her many endeavors, she is a veteran volunteer EMS. When Jenn isn’t taking care of your pups (or everyone else for that matter) you can find her on her farm, taking care of her 4 kids, 7 dogs, husband and farm animals!
Kristen Lacefield

MANAGING DIRECTOR

Kristin joined ROAM from Indiana with her husband David of 23+ years, and two children, Kyla and JD. Her lifelong passion for dogs began when volunteering for her local animal shelter in the late 90’s, started working in veterinary clinics/hospitals in 2007, and boarding/daycare/training facilities in 2012. She officially became a certified AKC evaluator in 2016 and has obtained several certifications for various AKC programs. As well as being a certified AKC Temperament Test judge, Farm Dog judge, and Fetch Dog judge, Kristin is also certified in JSDT-1 and is skilled in Click and Treat training. She has also mastered Pack Fundamentals supervising large play groups averaging ~75-100 dogs. She will be adding a training division to ROAM Camp and is excited to be working with ROAM, the canine guests, and their pet parents. Kristin and her family are thrilled to be a permanent part of the ROAM Camp family and look forward to ensuring all guests and their pet parents are always provided with top-tier care when their beloved four-legged family members are “always within petting distance” while staying with ROAM Camp.
David Lacefield

OPERATIONS MANAGER

David was born and raised in Indiana and is excited to permanently join and live the “outward bound hound” boarding experience that ROAM offers to its guests and their pet parents. David has previously been an AKC evaluator and has worked and assisted Kristin, along with their daughter Kyla, in training for the past 5 years. David enjoys being outdoors and around dogs, while also enjoying time with his family. He has an extensive background in property management and transportation; he is looking forward to representing and supporting ROAM through his dedication to transporting all ROAM Camp guests safely to and from the camp and ensuring operations are maintained consistently and with the utmost above and beyond care for staff, guests, pet parents, and the property where your dogs ROAM.
Kyla Lacefield

TRAINING & BOARDING APPRENTICE
Kyla is a training and boarding apprentice for ROAM Camp. Being the daughter of Kristin and David, Kyla has been learning to train dogs from the age of 8 years old. She has achieved certification in Pack Fundamentals by accomplishing the supervision of large play groups and is the youngest Pack Fundamentals graduate to date. Kyla also has an extreme passion for the AKC world, specifically the grooming field, where she has observed several beautifully groomed breeds while being shown in the conformation rings and is looking forward to attending grooming school and obtaining her own AKC evaluator certification next year. Kyla will be assisting her parents as needed in the day-to-day duties and building the training division, while also focusing on sharpening her skillset in both standard and premier boarding operations with the direction of the owners. Kyla is very happy to be a part of ROAM’s “Always within petting distance” model as she cannot wait to give extra pets and love to all guests who visit ROAM Camp and hopes to meet the pet parents that have entrusted ROAM to care for their four-legged, furry children.
